Our Story
Our coffee had its inception in the dark hours after we spent all day fighting the raging wildfires threatening the surrounding landscape in Northern California. As the sun set and the fire "laid down", us firefighters would gather around with a cup of coffee in hand, feeling that stimulating warmth coursing through our veins as we strategized how we could stay one step ahead of the flames. We used this time to plan the next days activities as well as share stories of our successes as well as our failures. Coffee brings us together.
With the love and care we put into selecting the finest of coffee beans and to roasting and grinding them, our coffee is certain to keep you one step ahead of the challenges you face each day.
We first started roasting coffee beans in a popcorn popper in 2015, then a couple years later, graduated to a 300g Gene Café roaster. At a local hospital where I also worked, I would make my coffee on my Aero Press each day. The aroma would waft down the halls and into other rooms, causing co-workers to seek the source. We began to roast beans for co-workers and one day I spent 12 hours roasting 19lbs of green beans on my days off work! We knew it was time to up our game and acquired a 3kg drum roaster the next year. We continue to look forward and how we can grow our business with you.
Mission
The beans we use at OFF DUTY COFFEE ROASTERY are grown and roasted to meet the top quality standard we are proud to provide. From our knowledge to your cup, the goal is to make sure you enjoy the best combination of rich flavors and aromas for a coffee experience unlike any other. We wont tell you how to brew a perfect cup of coffee (because everyone has a different opinion on that) but we will provide you with some brewing tips as well as premium roasted coffee beans, that you can brew to your liking!
